Final Voting - 22nd March 2004

Again, not going to lengthen the suspense. Voting is up, so go check out the audio. Vote fairly, we'll be watching and a big congratulations to both Heather and Rachel for getting this far. There are 2 audios from each contestant and the one who is more consistant and has the highest average vote will win.

Final Time - 10th March 2004

I'm not going to keep you all in suspense, the results of Round 4 are as follows;

BrOxATL02 - 3.25

heatherd7781 - 3.86

HoNeY bAbY - 3.63

RachelAguilera - 4.01

Thanks everyone for voting.  Sorry to lose Brian and Molly in this round, you came so far, to fall at the last hurdle (well discounting the final which I guess is the biggest of them all), but I guess 2 people had to go and I'm glad it wasn't a decision I had to make.

So everything is set up for the All Diva Final between Heather and Rachel.  Just a reminder to take a look at the song sheet as there are 2 songs to record in this round.  The person with the highest combined total for both songs will win!!!

And what are the prizes again, I hear you ask;

Well, the winner will receive a Level 3 prize from the Prize Bin, 50 membership points, and get the top featured spot on Christina Showcase.

The runner up will receive a Level 2 prize from the Prize Bin, 25 membership points, and the second featured spot on Christina Showcase.

Good luck to you both! (and don't forget to get the audio in because losing on a technicality would be even worse).  You have until the 21st, as there are 2 audios to record.

Round 4 (Judges Comments) - 1st March 2004

Round 4 - 29th February 2004

Yup we've reached Round 4 already. Shocking, huh?

Happy leap year to everyone at CMM, just think, this day won't come around for another 4 years...

However, another week passed by and it's update time once again on CMM Idol.  The voting is all up for the 4th Round and this is where things get REALLY tense because after this round only 2 people will be left to duel it out in the Final Round!!!

Don't forget to vote (fairly) for your favourites because every vote does count and you don't want them to fall at the second to last hurdle now do you?

Round 3 Results - 22nd February 2004

The contestants eliminated after Round 3 are Kelis and kylie_xx.  Here are the results in full;

Round 3 - 15th February 2004

We're now up to Round 3.  Unfortunately, 2 of the contestants have not got back to me with audio. These contestants are enjoying_insanity and CoryT1986.  We have waited an extra day for the audios but they are still not in so for the fairness to the other contestants, we will have to move on without them.

As we're now into Round 3 with 2 less contestants than usual, one round will now disappear.  So from now on there will be Round 4 and then the final.

In this round both of the CMM Manager contestants were eliminated!!! (ca_rox and EvilTemptressDQ).  Thank you to you both for taking part.

The results are as follows:

BrOxATL02 - 3.49

ca_rox - 2.8

CoryT1986 - 3.5

enjoying_insanity - 2.93

EvilTemptressDQ - 2.73

heatherd7781 - 3.71

HoNeY bAbY - 3.71

Kelis - 3.76

Round 1 (Judging Stage) - 15th January 2004

Welcome to the real beginning of the competition.  I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who has shown interest in this competition in particular to the 44 contestants who are taking part.  As this round is anonymous, I cannot reveal the names of the participants in this update, but you will all be listed and thanked in the next update.

Another thank you has to go to the Promotion Team as without them, this site would not be here and this competition would not be as organized as it is.

We hope that anyone who has not entered will follow the competition over the next few weeks and make this competition a great success.

Words Of Advice:

Judges- be fair and impartial (and kind!)
Contestants- Don't let anyone put you down and sing your hearts out, but most of all have fun.
Readers- It's time to get listening and reading.

You can listen to the audio in "The Audio" section.  Please remember to download and not stream the files.

-------------------------------------------------------

Due to confusion and a lot of questions that have come up about CMM Idol. We have updated the FAQ (below), and made things much easier to understand.

What Is CMM Idol?

If you haven't heard of the Idol series, where have you been?  Launched on CMM's 2nd Anniversary, welcome to CMM Idol, THE search for CMM's Pop Idol.  Follow through the following weeks of auditions, finals, drama and tears as we find out very first ever Pop Idol.

The format is very simple, whether you enter or not.  The contestants clips will be here on this website and you with the help of the judges will find the talent within the CMM Community.

So do you think you have what it takes?  Enter Now!

So What Do I Need?

A microphone, a good voice (preferably) and a program on your computer which will allow you to record yourself.  There is a program which allows you to record yourself bundled with Windows called Sound Recorder, but you will notice that it will only record up to 60 seconds before cutting you off unless you record blankly repeatedly.  So, we suggest a program called Audacity that you can download for PC HERE or for MAC HERE , which allows you to edit.

What Format Should I Submit My File As?

Please save and submit the file as an MP3.

How Do I Submit My File?

For the first round, those who are interested in entering should submit their entry via the file Submission utility on CMM at the link HERE or email your mp3 with your name in the email HERE.

So Who Can Enter?

The first round is an audition round, in which any member can enter. The voting of the first round will cut down all the auditionees to 10 finalists. In each round following this, 2 contestants will be lost in each round by voting (unless of cases such as non submittal in which only the contestant who came last will be eliminated that week as well as the disqualification of the non submitter).
Round 1: Everyone
Round 2: 10 people
Round 3: 8 people
Round 4: 6 people
Round 5 : 4 people
Final Round: 2 people.

What Are The Prizes?

The winner will receive a Level 3 prize from the Prize Bin, 50 membership points, and get the top featured spot on Christina Showcase.

Runner up will receive a Level 2 prize from the Prize Bin, 25 membership points, and the second featured spot on Christina Showcase

How Long Does The Entry Have To Be?

The entry can be as long as you wish although we ask that there be a verse and a chorus and that it is no longer than 3 minutes.

Is There A Size limit?

If possible, the file should be smaller than 2MB so that it can be submitted to the File Submission Utility, although if that is not possible you can attach it to an email stating your CMM Username and send it to cmmidol@christinamultimedia.com

What Software To Use?

You can use any audio software providing that you are able to save to mp3 or use a convertor to mp3. However we feature "Audacity" which you can download from the mainpage in CMM Idol (MAC and PC versions).

How Will It Be Fair?

Fairness is difficult to manage, however the judging of the audition round will be done by reliable judges ensuring that the best 10 talents get through to the finals. There are many members of CMM so popularity will be cancelled out by talent, as although one person may get votes from their friends, there are many members who will be voting on talent.

What Happens In Each Round?

In each round, the contestants can chose a song from the list provided then get to perform their choice for all of CMM to listen. In the audition round, anyone can submit an MP3 to be considered for the finals. The voting in this round will be done by a panel of 3 judges.

In each round of the finals, only the contestants who qualified for the finals can submit audio. Again all of CMM can listen to the files, although this time will be able to vote. After the votes have been tallied , the 2 contestants with the lowest votes get eliminated.

Will My Submission Be Displayed?

Yes your submission will be displayed in "The Audio" section of CMM Idol.

How Does The Voting Work?

You are allowed to vote each round for the contestant you believe to have the best talent. The voting will be done on a scale of 5. With 5 being the highest and 1 being the lowest. You give your score for each of the contestants and the average of all of the votes will be used as the voting results. This is to allow the maximum fairness as it works as a voting system better than "vote for your favourite" or "vote for the worst", this method would mean that if someone thought that 2 people were equally as good/poor, they would only be able to choose one of them. If all of the people felt the same, and voted for the same person, there would end up with the other being safe/eliminated. You will only be able to vote if you have listened to the audio file.

How Were The Judges Chosen?

The judges were chosen by the Promotion Team Managers in order of who will be able to do the job fairly. The judges chosen are reliable and fair

What Is The Role Of The Judges?

The judges will pick the 10 contestants who will advance to the final rounds as well as give comments on the contestants audio clips and performances on the comments section of the CMM Idol Page and in the event of a tie , the judges get to decide the tie breaker.
