FAQ
What Is CMM Idol?
The format is very simple, whether you enter or not, the contestants entries will be here on this website and you, with the help of the judges will find the talent within the CMM Community.
So What Do I Need?
A microphone, a good voice (preferably) and a program on your computer which will allow you to record yourself. There is a program which allows you to record yourself bundled with Windows called Sound Recorder, but you will notice that it will only record up to 60 seconds. So, we suggest a program called Audacity that you can download for PC HERE or for MAC HERE , which allows you to edit your recordings.
I think I need more help wih Audacity...
Recording it 'right' was the subject of CMM Workshop #2, including how to warm up your voice which you can read the summary of HERE. The CMM Help Center also has a guide on how to use Audacity which is located HERE.
What Format Should I Submit My File As?
Please save and submit the file as an MP3.
How Do I Submit My File?
You can submit your entry via the File Submission Utility, this utility will only accept files under 2Mb or email your entry including your CMM username in the email to cmmidol@christinamultimedia.com.

So Who Can Enter?
The first round is an audition round, in which any CMM member can enter, apart from those who were in the Top 10 for any previous CMM Idol competition, however those who auditioned but didn't make it, can enter.
What Are The Prizes?
The winner will receive a Level 3 prize from the Prize Bin, 50 membership points, and get the top featured Spotlight spot for CMM Idol 5 on Christina Showcase. Runner up will receive a Level 2 prize from the Prize Bin, 25 membership points, and the second featured Spotlight spot for CMM Idol 5 on Christina Showcase.
How Long Does The Entry Have To Be?
The entry can be as long as you wish although we ask that there be a verse and a chorus and that it is no longer than 3 minutes.
Is There A Size limit?
If possible, the file should be smaller than 2MB so that it can be submitted to the File Submission Utility, we will accept larger files by email, as long as they don't seem to be too big (as bandwidth costs money).
What Software To Use?
You can use any audio software providing that you are able to save to mp3 or use a convertor to mp3. However we feature "Audacity", as we can offer support for this program.
How Will The Auditions Be Fair?
Fairness is a difficult thing to ensure, however the judging of the audition round will be done by reliable judges and the contestants will be anonymous, so that the best 10 talents get through to the finals.
What Happens In Each Round?
In each round, the contestants can chose a song which matches the requirements of the round provided in the Format section of the site, which they will perform for all of CMM to hear.
In the audition round, anyone can submit an MP3 to be considered for the finals. The voting in this round will be done by a panel of 3 judges.
In all of the other rounds, only the contestants who qualified for the finals can submit audio. Again all of CMM can listen to the files, although this time it'll be the vote of the members which will decide who stays. The judges will provide their comments in these rounds.
After the votes have been tallied , the 2 contestants with the lowest votes get eliminated. In the result of a tie, it will be up to the judges to decide who goes.
Will My Submission Be Displayed?
Providing that you are a contestant in the round, yes, your submission will be displayed in the Current Round/Previous Rounds section.
How Does The Voting Work?
You are allowed to vote after each round (apart from the Audition round) for the contestant you believe to have the best talent.
The voting will be done on a scale of 5. With 5 being the highest and 1 being the lowest. You give your score for each of the contestants and the average of all of the votes cast will be used as the result.
This is to allow the maximum fairness as it works better than "vote for your favourite" or "vote for the worst".
You will only be able to vote if you have listened to the audio file.
How Were The Judges Chosen?
The judges were chosen after submitting applications. The CMM Directors team then decided who they thought should be a Judge. The judges chosen are reliable and fair.
What Is The Role Of The Judges?
The judges will pick the 10 finalists, give comments on the contestants audio clips for each round and in the event of a tie , the judges will decide the tie breaker.
