| Aguilera Lippy - Jul 2000 | Fancy looking like Christina Aguilera? Well, in six months’ time you'll be able to! She's the latest Pop Queen to launch a cosmetics line. She says the range will carry loads of products, with a very raunchy brand name. But being rather tangerine coloured there probably won't be any pots of foundation on offer.
Christina told Radio 1: "I've teamed up with the Fetish cosmetics line and we're coming up with a whole new line of ideas. It's everything from eyeshadow to lipsticks." But it won’t be just make-up - the teen queen will also be expanding into bath gels and perfumes: "I'... |

| Christina Aguilera Gives Crowd What It Wants - Jul 02, 2000 | Singer impresses Summerfest audience with vocal abilities.
Singer Christina Aguilera commanded the stage at the Marcus Amphitheater on Saturday night with the showmanship of a seasoned pro.
But the minute she spoke to the crowd, she sounded like she could have been any one of the thousands of teenage girls in the audience.
"God, you guys, this is my first headlining tour," Aguilera, 19, told the audience of 17,000, in the same tone she used when accepting her Best New Artist Grammy in March.
Saturday's show — part of Milwaukee's 10-day Summerfest music festival — was the kickoff... |

| The Summer of (Slightly Less Expensive) Love - Jul 03, 2000 | As music fans queue up for their favorite summer concerts, there's an unmistakable smell of conflict in the air.
A surprisingly large number of artists – Phish, Britney Spears, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Creed, the Dave Matthews Band, the Dixie Chicks, Third Eye Blind and Christina Aguilera, among others – are working hard to keep ticket prices down (a relatively modest $30-$40). Even old-timers like Bob Dylan, the Allman Brothers and AC/DC – acts who usually charge more (since their fans skew older and have more cash on hand) – are on the road with ticket prices that max out around $... |

| The Hit Girl - Jul 06, 2000 | A black limousine rolls through the streets of downtown Toronto. "What CD do you want to hear?" asks the assistant.
"Put this on, Track Three!" answers the pop star.
The CD player whirrs, the assistant crosses her legs, the pop star smiles.
I had this bad bitch uptown, she was whoa!/Had me fucked up in the head, I mean whoa!/Bought the bitch diamonds and pearls, I mean whoa!
"Turn it up!" the pop star yells. The driver glances into the back seat, concerned.

| Aguilera dazzles the Fairgrounds crowd - Jul 06, 2000 | TRAVERSE CITY — With chairs lacing the sidewalk and tents scattered about the lawn, eager fans waited in early April — for not only warmth — but also for tickets to see teen pop sensation Christina Aguilera.
On Wednesday night, they got both.
“We camped out for two nights in the cold to see her,” said Rachel Werk who was seated smack dab in the front row. Her sister Nicole was quick to add, “Christina is the best!”

| Christina's high hopes - Jul 07, 2000 | Christina Aguilera has just taken a crash course in fame. Apparently, she has passed with honours. In just under a year, the pop singer has sold six million records, taken a Grammy Award for best new artist (beating Spears and favourite Macy Gray) and made dozens of international TV appearances.
Her name is cited alongside the trendiest of the trendy: Britney Spears, Eminem, Fred Durst, N'Sync. If magazine covers are a measure of success, Aguilera has certainly joined the big time: in July she graced the front of Rolling Stone just two months after Spears.

| Screamfest for Christina - Jul 07, 2000 | Around the time that blues legend Taj Mahal was dazzling a few thousand people at Harbourfront with his evocative guitar playing, a hugely popular teen pop star was singing the blues to a crowd whose music vocabulary doesn't include the word.
The pop star was 19-year-old Christina Aguilera -- that's her posing provocatively on the cover of the latest issue of Rolling Stone -- and she delivered a sweet reading of Etta James' At Last.
"I love singing the blues," Aguilera confessed to her adoring fans, who waved fluorescent green wands and screamed all night. "Etta James is o... |

| Aguilera growing up exposed - Jul 07, 2000 | Christina Aguilera's recent Rolling Stone cover -- in a cropped tank top with her denim cutoffs unzipped and falling down to reveal her skinny midriff and a teensy, weensy bikini bottom -- may seem risque to some people.
But the 19-year-old pop star points out she is sticking her tongue out in a somewhat goofy manner.
"I don't think the Rolling Stone cover is bad -- I'm just showing tummy," Aguilera says down the line from a tour stop this week prior to her first headlining gig in Toronto tonight at the Air Canada Centre. The ACC lineup includes the Moffatts, soulDecision, myto... |

| Pop star fizzles - Jul 10, 2000 | Diva wows fans but dull production fails to dazzle
OTTAWA -- Pop star Christina Aguilera may be the product of way too much hype.
Sure, there's hot-looking-mama potential based on that recent skanky Rolling Stone magazine cover and just about every media outlet drooling over her bad-girl image.
Huh? Aguilera, a bad girl? For gawdsakes, she's just a 19-year-old former Mouseketeer with a batch of Walt Disney-approved rhythm and blues hits and a good set of pipes.
Like her ex-Mouseketeer pal Britney Spears, she's popular as far as record sales and teen magazines go, maybe even a good role ... |

| Fans keep watch for weary star - Jul 11, 2000 | OTTAWA -- Pop sensation Christina Aguilera needed a massage and a little junk food yesterday after crossing the Atlantic to perform in the capital.
Dressed all in black, including a tight-fitting T-shirt with "Rockstar" in silver glitter, the blonde beauty pulled into the Ottawa Westin hotel shortly after noon with a crew of beefy bodyguards. Aguilera was whisked out of her vehicle, into the hotel lobby, and then vanished into an elevator with her entourage following fast behind.

| Mr. Ulrich Goes to Washington - Jul 11, 2000 | Outside D.C., a new coalition of some 70 artists voiced opposition to Internet piracy with a series of full-page ads in The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, USA Today and other major papers. Artists Against Piracy, which includes Christina Aguilera, blink-182, DMX and even MP3.com stockholder Alanis Morissette, is pushing for "public awareness" and "understanding" of the value of music (presuming the best way to deter Napster-heads is by making them feel guilty).

Aguilera, who is currently in the middle of her U.S. tour, is expected to actually choose colors, product formulations, and packaging for Fetish in addition to lending her face to the product. Aguilera seems a spot-on choice for Fetish, as the line is aimed at young women aged 16 to 22.

For seven hours Wednesday evening, the 19-year-old singer worked on vocals for her upcoming Christmas album at Channels Audio & Post-production on Sargent Avenue.

| Backstage meet lets down fans - Jul 14, 2000 | WINNIPEG -- It was so cold and mechanical, some fans who won backstage passes to "meet and greet" Christina Aguilera yesterday felt like they were on an assembly line.
About two dozen fans told to be at the Winnipeg Arena at 3:45 p.m. to prepare for a promised 4:15 p.m. meeting cooled their heels until 5 p.m., before Aguilera made a drive-by appearance lasting roughly three minutes. The tiny singer, clad in a white mid-riff tank top and a purple skirt, said, "Hello," and quickly moved down a pre-posed lineup, stopping in front of each group just long enough for a hired p... |

| Aguilera talks about cutting loose, good-girl image, getting dissed - Jul 14, 2000 | At first we were infuriated that The Edmonton Sun didn't get an interview with Christina Aguilera.
We were told her schedule is so tight only eight Canadian print interviews were granted to advance her PsykoBlast Tour, which hits Skyreach Centre on Sunday. Imagine being 19 and having your entire existence cut into 15-minute chunks with every hack in the world trying to grab one. What a life.
Anyway, we got shut out. Blast and damn.
Then I thought: what could I possibly ask this queen of teen pop, crowned in a seemingly desperate rush less than a year ago? Her short career is a matter ... |

The Grammy-winning singer has signed on to be the official spokeswoman for Fetish cosmetics, MTV reports.
Christina is expected to choose the colours and packaging for the make-up and the cosmetic line will sport her image during promotions.
Christina, age 19, is an appropriate spokeswoman for Fetish considering the company targets women from the ages of 16-22.

The diminutive 19-year-old singer with the big R&B voice kept the energy at maximum level as she rolled right into Somebody's Somebody, prowling the stage with six backup dancers and bringing most of the crowd to its feet.

Last night, Aguilera, having beaten Spears on Grammy night to walk away with best new artist honors, pulled in half that many fans, despite the fact that a portion of the lawn was sold as "buy one, get one free."
