Aguilera Accepts 'Just Be Free'Jul 13, 2001
by Rick House

Christina Aguilera has settled her lawsuit with Warlock Records, paving the way for the release of "Just Be Free," a compilation of demos she recorded when she was 14.

The suit, filed by the 20-year-old pop star in May, maintained that the demos were made to shop the singer to record labels and not intended for commercial distribution.

Aguilera believed that the demos are of lesser quality than the content she currently produces and therefore did not want the material released and marketed to her fans. As part of the deal, Aguilera will include a letter to her fans with the album explaining her position. "The recordings do not in any way reflect my current musical taste and where I am as an artist," she writes. "The growth and vocal development I experienced as I matured into young adulthood is not reflected in the recordings."
