Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera's Justified & Stripped tour kicks off at the America West Arena in Phoenix, Arizona on Wednesday (June 4). Timberlake said that by joining forces with Aguilera he hopes to change the perception of teen pop music.
"You know even though this was her second album, and this was my first album I think we were kind of at similar places in our career where we wanted to break the mold of what people looked at as teen pop and move into a different direction,” Timberlake said. “And so I think those couple of things added up to why I thought it was cool for us to tour together."
The *NSYNC singer added that the focus of this tour will be on the music. "Nothing really takes away from the music on this show,” Timberlake said. “And I have a three piece horn section and a DJ as well. So, the band's really full, and I really enjoy the sound of it. I think in all the right ways we added to what was already that live sound that was on the record."
Timberlake and Aguilera--sporting her new long black hair--are featured on the cover of the July 26 issue of Rolling Stone magazine. The magazine's headline reads, "Justin & Christina...Double Trouble... Hooking Up For The Sexiest Tour On Earth."
Timberlake recently co-hosted the 12th annual MTV Movie Awards with Seann William Scott. The show was taped on Saturday (May 31), at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles and will air on MTV at 9 p.m. ET Thursday (June 5). |
