Tube socks? With stiletto heels?

Christina Aguilera's knee-high, '80s-inspired choice of hosiery makes the sexy singer's near-nakedness hardly noticeable. What is that all about?
Christina Aguilera has been sporting tube socks as a fashion statement lately.
"We wanted a sporty street-vibe, instead of so-serious sexy," says stylist Trish Summerville, who has worked with Aguilera — and a box full of tube socks — on several projects. "She likes to be fun and playful."
The hot-pant concoction pictured above is from Aguilera's Can't Hold Us Down video with Lil' Kim. Aguilera sported tube socks on her recent tour, too, singing What A Girl Wants in a pair of lavender socks with purple bands.
But those socks were paired with seemingly more appropriate footwear: boxer boots. "She's got a lot of tube socks in every color combination," Summerville says. "I just love them with stilettos."
The singer's tube-sock style isn't only for the stage and camera, either. She's been spotted out in calf-length tube socks with buckle-up high-heel boots and a casual miniskirt. Among Aguilera's fancier footwear in her dresser drawer: Chrome Heart tube socks with leather and silver detailing. She owns a pair with the Rolling Stones lips and tongue logo, too.
