The enfant terrible of British fashion, Alexander McQueen, has proved he's not such a bad boy after all by doing his bit for charity. The controversial designer was joined by a roll-call of his A-list friends when he hosted a special show to raise money for Aids sufferers.
Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell, Samantha Morton and Stella McCartney were among the big names in attendance at the Earl's Court event. Simply entitled "Black", the show consisted to the best black outfits from Alexander's recent collections.
After the catwalk extravaganza, there was a black-themed auction with some rather unusual items going under the hammer. The lots included a pair of fishnet tights worn by Madonna and Christina Aguilera's black leather trousers. Other big names who donated items to help boost the event included Vivienne Westwood, Jade Jagger, Elton John and Tim Burton.
The glitzy bash was Alexander's first show in the British capital since he made the move to Paris three years ago. "I wish I was doing an original show in London, and one for more people," he said. "From a business point of view there's really no point showing in London, but from a vibe point of view there's every point." |
