A PARTY to celebrate the television station that launched the careers of Craig David, Destiny’s Child and Eminem is to be held in Edinburgh.
MTV Base is five years old this month, and to celebrate the station has arranged a string of star- studded parties across the UK and Ireland.
Stars such as Hanif, Paul N’Jie and Steve "tha 4orce" Ellington are lined up to play at the Capital party, as well as a party in Perth the following night.
And while the names of other celebrities attending the gig is being kept top secret, a previous MTV bash in the city attracted the likes of Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, Vin Diesel and Travis, not to mention crowd-pleasing performances from the Black Eyed Peas and Missy Elliot.
MTV Base was born in 1999 spawning a generation of R&B music lovers and heralding the start of a flourishing urban music scene.
Five years on the urban music channel is still at the forefront of the urban music scene.
Shows such as The Lick have a massive influence on the scene, putting acts such as Craig David, Destiny’s Child, Eminem, Jay Z and Usher at the top of the commercial charts.
The event is being held this Friday at the City nightclub on Market Street. Tickets for the expected sell-out event cost £10. |
