Britney Spears cancels her Onyx Hotel Tour after a knee injury
Apparently the summer of 2004 is cursed when it comes to female pop/rock stars. Britney Spears announced on Tuesday that she is canceling her North American summer tour due to a knee injury she suffered during a video shoot for her new single, “Outrageous," last week. Spears’ announcement follows tour cancellations by Christina Aguilera and Courtney Love. Aguilera was forced to cancel because of strained vocal cords, while Love is dealing with her numerous legal battles. Spears’ “Onyx Hotel Tour” was scheduled to begin on June 22 in Hartford, Conn. and be completed on Aug. 15 in Bakersfield, Calif., but the entire 36-city tour is now canceled. Instead, Spears will be spending her summer recovering from anthroscopic surgery that she had performed on her left knee last week. Recovery is anticipated after six weeks with her knee in a hard brace and eight to 12 weeks of rehabilitation. Spears promises that she will try to re-schedule the tour at a later date, but nothing is currently planned. |
