The last sentence of Elle's July cover story on Christina Aguilera makes the magazine worth at least double its $3.50 newsstand price.
It's an excerpt from the "Dirrty" girl's diary that's a sentiment worth committing to memory. Rather than print it out of context here, I suggest that you seek it out on newsstands.
What I find even more riveting is the eight-page Aguilera pictorial that accompanies the article. Evidently, she cleans up so well that she's virtually unrecognizable.
Add another line to the Grammy Award-winning, platinum-selling artist's résumé: She's also a superior model.
And check out how daringly divergent styles and labels come together flawlessly for this extreme "Xtina" makeover. How ingenious it was to outfit her in Givenchy, BCBG and Girbaud for the cover shot.
" . . . I don't believe in the words fashion faux pas," Elle quotes her as saying.
Now, it seems, there's been a method to Aguilera's wardrobe madness all along.
The July Elle marks a novel turning point for her. She's not reinventing (à la Madonna) nor repackaging (à la Britney) per se. At the seasoned age of 23, Aguilera's just blossoming. |
