Christina Gets £200k to Open Harrods' SaleJun 22, 2004

US pop sensation Christina Aguilera is opening the Harrods sale next week - for a cool fee of £200,000.

The singer has also made a number of demands which include a private jet to pick her up in California.

Aguilera will be in London for two days, but her 'official' duties will take her about two hours, reports the Daily Mirror.

A source close to the singer told the paper: "She will be receiving £200,000 for her duties, which include cutting the ribbon, making a welcome speech and attending a VIP breakfast with Harrods executives."

"She has to stay in a penthouse - she doesn't really care where it is as long as it's five-star quality.

"Christina has also asked for 10 bottles of room-temperature mineral water, and wants several bottles of wine. She doesn't mind which brand but did specify grape varieties.

"There have to be proper coffee mugs in the room with a selection of herbal teas, organic whole milk, soy cheese and fresh fruit platters.

"And the only champagne she'll drink is non-vintage Veuve Clicquot - a pretty cheap choice by most celebs' standards who normally plump for Cristal."

A spokesman for store owner Mohammed Al Fayed, said: "We've had huge names opening the sale over the years but none as contemporary as Ms Aguilera."
