A trend has developed in recent years in which young women of the entertainment world tread an ever-more well-traveled path - swapping sweet, virginal images to become vixens. A trend that horrifies lots of worried parents, fills talk shows with impassioned commentary, and obviously delights millions of fans, this image changing is by far more all-out and blatant than in times past. With a little bit of money, star power, and eager stylists, yesterday's sweethearts transform into Hollywood's sexiest ladies.
No two people have made bigger transitions than the dueling divas and former Mousekateers, Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears. Just a few years ago, audiences saw Christina as a cute, well-mannered teen with the release of "Reflections" from Disney's "Mulan." Hard to imagine now, eh? She went from having, gasp, red extensions in her hair to baring her bod in the "Lady Marmalade" remake which seemed to erase any notion that she was an innocent girl lost in an adult world. Today's "X-tina," as tattooed on her neck, has more piercings than we can count, is reported to partake in endless partying and drinking, and has been known to visit the strip joints with her boyfriend. Her song "Dirrty" showed a raunchier, adult woman who isn't afraid to express who she really is.
For years Britney Spears worked hard to uphold a squeaky-clean image but when she moved over to the vixen side, she moved all the way. One minute she was talking about the importance of "saving herself," the next minute she was gyrating onstage, with a chair, or panting while in the middle of what looked like an orgy in the "Slave 4 U" video. She caused quite a stir at the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards when she performed in a flesh-colored outfit that bared it all but it wasn't until her breakup with Justin Timberlake that the real Britney began to emerge. It came out that she was indeed NOT a virgin, she made out with Madonna on-stage, she's been linked to bad boys Colin Farrell and Fred Durst, and she's been seen partying at many a night club with drinks and cigarettes in hand. Indeed, not so innocent.
Another Brittany to have gone through the "change" is the spunky Brittany Murphy who first got noticed as the average looking chubby girl in "Clueless." Some years later she reappeared in "Riding in Cars with Boys" with a new do and a leaner, sexier body. She began hitting the party circuit and got heavy publicity during her involvement with Ashton Kutcher - probably because they were making out on every red carpet! But her naughty nature moved up a notch after starring with rapper Eminem in "8 Mile." Yeah, that'll do it.
It's the buxom Beyonce Knowles that started out as a soft-spoken but talented performer in the group "Destiny's Child" who has since come out of her shell after going solo. This girl knows how to work it, wearing very skimpy clothing, designed by her mother no less, while shaking her booty seductively in front of the camera. Beyonce is the object of many desires, having appeared in videos alongside rapper boyfriend Jay-Z, and flaunting those curves in skimpy bikinis, half torn shorts and shirts. She's still a bit soft-spoken but no matter. Is anyone listening to what she is saying?
No one can forget the cute Sam Malone on "Who's the Boss?" and the girl who became famous for playing her, Alyssa Milano. Now she's all grown up, having dropped the innocent girl act as soon as she hit adulthood. She took on sexually charged roles in films like "Fear" and "Poison Ivy II" and also stripped down to next-to-nothing for Candie's perfume ads. The heavily tattooed Alyssa is a nice but naughty girl that we can't help but love.
