Failed Fanclub Leaves Christina Fans High and DryJun 21, 2004

Fans that purchased VIP tickets to Christina Aguilera's ill-fated summer tour with Chingy still have not seen a refund for the tickets, and due to the fact that the company that ran her fan club went bankrupt, it may not happen anytime soon. Originally, those who spent several hundred dollars on VIP tickets - including premium seats, backstage passes and a chance to meet Christina - were told that the refund would be automatically issued to their credit card. An April notice posted on xtinaxposed.com, Aguilera's fan club Web site, read "You do not need to take any action to receive your refund."

However, two months later, those fans still have not seen their cash. It turns out that's because FansRULE, the fan club company that needs to pay the refunds, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in November. Since then, FansRULE has been trying to negotiate for additional financing, but has failed. "FansRULE regrets that the refunds for the canceled Christina Aguilera 2004 tour cannot be paid at this time," reads a new statement to fans on the Web site. "What should be made clear is that the inability to refund payments made for tickets is in no way the fault of Christina Aguilera. We understand that this puts a great many of you in a difficult situation, and are hopeful for a speedy resolution to this problem."

Aguilera's management also issued a statement saying, "We are writing to you to let you know how sorry Christina feels that you have not received your refunds from FansRULE. When we hired FansRule it was with the belief that they would provide the best possible service to our fans. In fact, for a long time, they did provide an excellent service. When Christina cancelled her tour, as a result of doctor's instructions related to voice problems, we immediately contacted FansRule and insisted that they pay refunds to everyone who bought packages to the tour. Our expectation was that the refunds would be made by May 31. We have been actively and aggressively pursuing FansRULE to cause them to refund the money but, as of this date, our efforts have been unsuccessful."
