A TOTAL transformation is the only way to describe a store's refurbished perfume and makeup section.

John Lewis in WGC has had a £1m makeover and the difference is massive.

They have also introduced the beauty houses Benefit, Sisley and Origins, and top perfumery brands V Valentino, Kenneth Cole and Anna Sui.

Customers will be able to see the changes for themselves as the store has lined up a series of demonstrations from various beauty houses, starting on Saturday (May 14) at 11am and continuing throughout the week.

You can have your foundation applied flawlessly using an airbrush, there are makeovers and facials, a well-being workshop and even a prize draw to win £300 worth of beauty products and fragrance.

Louise Dunderdale went along to find out about one of the new beauty houses, Benefit, for herself . . .

CHLOË Colvern, pictured, the counter manager at Benefit, has spent over 10 years in the makeup and beauty industry.

And she seems on a mission to turn make-up into fun-time with the Benefit range.

Everything from the names of the products to the shape of the counter has been designed to make it feel more hands-on.

"It's a grown up girls' sweet shop," she said.

"You can have a look, you can try products. That's what we are all about."

Fake-Its is a range of beauty fixes to carry around in a bag to cover the flaws and perk you up, while Zapperella helps problem skin.

The BADgal range is to create high-definition eyes looking for attention, Dr Feelgood bids bye-bye to shiny noses and then there's lip, cheek and liquid creams with fabulous packaging, bath products and scent.

The range was created in 1976 by San Francisco models Jean and Jane Ford, and the products have gone from strength to strength.

Celebrity fans include Christina Aguilera, Britney Spears, Jennifer Aniston and even David Bowie.

Chloe and her staff are encouraging shoppers to stop and have a look at the new range and try a five-minute makeover with them so they can run through some of the many great products on the counter.
