| Christina: intimate talk about a past that still hurts - Jan 2007 | For years, the tiny singer with the powerful pipes has hidden behind a parade of personas. But when she sat down with Glamour, she was refreshingly candid. Here’s who she really is.
I am sitting in the Great Western Forum, an empty arena near Los Angeles, waiting to watch a run-through of Christina Aguilera’s new show for her Back to Basics tour, when the 26-year-old pop star appears in front of me. She is wearing black sky-high stilettos, a comfy sweater and supertight jeans, her white-blond hair pulled back, lips glossed in her signature red. “Please understand this is a work in progress,” ... |

| Sisters! - Personally Perez - Jan 02, 2007 | Flawless!!!!
This is one of our favoritest pictures ever.
Miz Christina Aguilera was our lovely co-host at the very chi chi New Year's Eve celebration at the Hudson Hotel in NYC, produced by Mike Satsky and the crew from Stereo with the help of the generous folks from Heineken.
We were soooooo tempted to ask Xtina about Britney, but we didn't. New Year's was Aguilera's night, not Spears'!
Fresh from her Times Square performance on Dick Clark's show, Christina was in great spirits. And, despite rumors of a rift with her hubby Jordy, the two were inseparable and liplocked all night.

| Some TV kisses smack of clumsiness - Jan 03, 2007 | 3. Ryan Seacrest and Christina Aguilera: At 12:00:01 Eastern on Monday they looked like a pair of those drinking-glass birds that bob for water: She leaned. He leaned. He stopped. She stopped. He leaned again, she leaned again, and he pecked her cheek with little vigor. The best part is his sheepish look off to the side, undoubtedly at some cameramen rolling on the floor laughing. | TV Review: Saturday Night Live - Alec Baldwin/Christina Aguilera - Jan 08, 2007 | "Christina Aguilera performs "Ain't No Other Man" - This song is overexposed on Top 40 radio, but she is getting better as a musician and this was a good performance for her. The Madonna-baiting look (although I can't identify which Madonna era Aguilera takes her look from - I'm assuming the Dick Tracy era) is unoriginal, but at least she's not a self-parody like Gwen Stefani."

If the gossip is true, then she's putting up $10 million as the largest solo investor. She joins other pop heartthrob Nick Lachey who is opening his steakhouse concept there too.

| Picking at fragments: Tim Cain's top albums of 2006 - Jan 18, 2007 | 5. Christina Aguilera, "Back to Basics" Sounds like: Everything she's never sounded like before: A young Aretha Franklin, mid-period Madonna, a maturing artist. When I was first listening to this, I kept looking at my iPod, baffled. Had I loaded the wrong album? Had the record company inadvertently pressed a dozen songs from some soulful 1940s swing belter and put it in an Aguilera package? I may be overreacting, but the most exciting moment musically for me in 2006 is the 11-second note she holds near the end of "Candyman."

| Snap judgment: Christina Aguilera's 'Candyman' - Jan 29, 2007 | Even Christina Aguilera haters have to admit, the gal's not your run-of-the-mill pop tart.
MTV News is reporting that the third single from Xtina's Back to Basics double disc will be "Candyman" (currently streaming here, at the artist's MySpace page), and to my ears, it's the romping-est, big-band-iest single by a popular singer since Madonna's "Hanky Panky."
Not surprisingly, Xtina's in great voice on this ode to a bad-boy beau, and if you close your eyes, you can practically picture a video filled with a rousing bouts of jitterbug and a flurry of jazz-hands.

| Pop Making Sense - Jan 31, 2007 | I love it when people ask me about songs that are licensed for commercials, movie trailers or TV shows. Somebody insisted Christina Aguilera sings a version of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy for a cell-phone ad. The WWII inspired number is actually the Beautiful singer’s Candyman pulled from last year’s Back to Basics. She may have sung Ain’t No Other Man, but Aguilera sure shows off her sweet tooth with this suggestive Candyman. The Verizon Wireless LG Chocolate ad uses the few refrains that have soda-shop friendly lyrics.
