Sure, Christina Aguilera came out of the New Mickey Mouse Club, just like Britney Spears, but this teen is a step above teenybopper.
Her rich voice has range, maturity, sensuality and sexuality - and the slick R&B/pop numbers on her debut give her plenty of space to work it with true diva aplomb.
Though she never really wanders out of romantic waters, her material gives the impression that she's an adult woman - nothing that would demand and explicit lyrics sticker, but (thankfuly) she skips the cutesy-coy bit completely: "I just know when you put your hands on me I feel ready and I lose my self-control" from "Put Your Hands on Me."
Move over, Mariah - this Genie's bound to make some chart magic. |
