Teen Pop Spectacle - Aug 21, 2003
The ol' spectre of Hindsight's 20/20 is rearing his sinister, incorporeal head again. He's trying to tell me, I think, not to miss the rescheduled Christina Aguilera/Justin Timberlake“Justified and Stripped” double bill at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Hartford Civic Center, that I'll regret it forever.

I had similar premonitions before: The Stones at Altamont, the farewell “Lamb Lies Down on Broadway” performance by Genesis, and the Sex Pistols' 1978 musical brouhaha at the late, great Longhorn Ballroom in Dallas.

I didn't go to any of those shows, and look what happened: they all became legendar...

Shows are back on for pair— except the show in Atlantic CityType: Internet Article
Shows are back on for pair - Aug 21, 2003
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. | Concerts featuring Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera that were scrapped after equipment collapsed before their show at Boardwalk Hall have been rescheduled — except the show in Atlantic City.

Workers are still cleaning up the equipment that collapsed Aug. 9. The 100-by-100-foot grid buckled and lurched downward before collapsing entirely, forcing postponement of the concert and others in Albany, N.Y.; Hartford, Conn.; and East Rutherford.

The cause of the Aug. 9 equipment collapse remains unknown.

Jeff Vasser, executive director of the Atlantic City Convention a...

Teen Pop Will Never DieType: Internet Article
Teen Pop Will Never Die - Aug 21, 2003
Here's what happens when Mousketeers grow up: They trade in their wholesome smiles and mouse ears for libidinous pop tunes and plays for grown-up credibility.

That's what the lucky ones do, at any rate, and Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera are luckier than most. From their generic beginnings on "The Mickey Mouse Club" to the top of the charts as real American idols, Timberlake and Aguilera have begun the perilous process of transforming themselves from teen pop icons into viable adult artists. Each released an album last year - her second (more or less) and his first solo re...

Justin's Injustice - Aug 20, 2003
August 20, 2003 -- THE fans didn't know what they were missing - and, judging by his performance at Monday night's makeup gig at Nassau Coliseum with Christina Aguilera, neither did Justin Timberlake.

The kids at the Uniondale, L.I., show would tell you Justin was terrific.

But compared with his performance last Wednesday at an after-midnight Irving Plaza showcase, the Coliseum concert was a hollow, plastic symphony in schmaltz, replete with gadgets, gizmos and stage shenanigans.

In effect, it was an *NSYNC show without his partners.

It was a far cry from what Timberlake did at Irving ...
