The 'N Sync singer has recast himself as an R&B playa, while Aguilera's been hardening her image and adding a measure of metallic thunder to her sound.

| Teen sensation Aguilera to tour U.S. for three months - Aug 27, 2000 |  Plans for Christina Aguilera's first-ever headlining tour are final. The former Mousketeer announced dates for her North American summer tour on Thursday after weeks of issuing smaller details. As previously reported, Destiny's Child have been picked as the opening act and Sears Roebuck and Co. and Levi's Jeans will sponsor the outing. The tour is scheduled to launch in Kansas City, Mo., on July 31 and close out in West Palm Beach, Fla., on Sept. 25.

It's a shame that the first single from Stripped is "Dirrty." It's hard to hear the song without conjuring up that Girls Gone Wild: Beyond Thunderdome video. And more important, "Dirrty" completely misrepresents the rest of the album. The title of Stripped screams "Look at my privates!" but the quieter message is "Be true to yourself."
