| Pop tart to avant-garde - Mar 07, 2003 | Christina Aguilera meet Floria Sigismondi.
Don't laugh.
The confab between the U.S. pop tart and the highly respected Canadian avant-garde video director is about to happen in L.A. next Monday and Tuesday.
The Hamilton-born Sigismondi will direct Aguilera in the clip for her next single, Fighter, from last fall's disc, Stripped.
One thing is for sure, anything is an improvement over the much-dissed Aguilera video for Dirrty, the first single.
I can hardly wait to see what the highly imaginative Sigismondi comes up with. Her credits include striking videos for David Bowie (Little Wond... |

Christina has reached a settlement with Warlock Records that will see her much disputed album, "Just Be Free", in stores either on the 14th or 21st of August.
The pop diva and her management were suing Warlock and the other parties involved in the album's release for improper use of her name and likeness for their own profit.
The material on the album was recorded when Christina was 14 and 15. When the dispute began, Christina's lawyer Carla Christofferson said the singer was ... |

The Inside.com website says Kurtz's statement claims Aguilera may be under the influence of outside interests who have convinced her to abandon the manager, who has guided the singer to the top of the charts with sales of more than 10 million albums.
"What is most disturbing is that, after having spent more than three years together and having achieved incredible artistic and financial success, rathe... |

| Christina plies pipes in 'Peg studio - Jul 14, 2000 | WINNIPEG -- Christina Aguilera may have let her genie out of its bottle at the Winnipeg Arena last night but the night before her rambunctious show the teen-pop diva uncorked a little magic at a Winnipeg recording studio.
For seven hours Wednesday evening, the 19-year-old singer worked on vocals for her upcoming Christmas album at Channels Audio & Post-production on Sargent Avenue.
Aguilera has been working on the project -- which should hit music stores worldwide this fall -- as she travels the country with her five-act musical extravaganza.
Noting the singer had an off-day in Wi... |

| Backstage meet lets down fans - Jul 14, 2000 | WINNIPEG -- It was so cold and mechanical, some fans who won backstage passes to "meet and greet" Christina Aguilera yesterday felt like they were on an assembly line.
About two dozen fans told to be at the Winnipeg Arena at 3:45 p.m. to prepare for a promised 4:15 p.m. meeting cooled their heels until 5 p.m., before Aguilera made a drive-by appearance lasting roughly three minutes. The tiny singer, clad in a white mid-riff tank top and a purple skirt, said, "Hello," and quickly moved down a pre-posed lineup, stopping in front of each group just long enough for a hired p... |

| Aguilera talks about cutting loose, good-girl image, getting dissed - Jul 14, 2000 | At first we were infuriated that The Edmonton Sun didn't get an interview with Christina Aguilera.
We were told her schedule is so tight only eight Canadian print interviews were granted to advance her PsykoBlast Tour, which hits Skyreach Centre on Sunday. Imagine being 19 and having your entire existence cut into 15-minute chunks with every hack in the world trying to grab one. What a life.
Anyway, we got shut out. Blast and damn.
Then I thought: what could I possibly ask this queen of teen pop, crowned in a seemingly desperate rush less than a year ago? Her short career is a matter ... |

From an early start time -- doors open at 4:30 p.m. and showtime is 5:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Winnipeg Arena -- to special parent rooms and reserved seating, the show caters to young fans.
Aguilera takes the stage at about 9:30 p.m., following the four opening acts -- Winnipeg's McMaster and James, Irish group mytown, and B.C. boys soulDecision and The Moffatts -- so kids can get home early, YTV director of co-marketing Tim Cormick says.

| Fans keep watch for weary star - Jul 11, 2000 | OTTAWA -- Pop sensation Christina Aguilera needed a massage and a little junk food yesterday after crossing the Atlantic to perform in the capital.
Dressed all in black, including a tight-fitting T-shirt with "Rockstar" in silver glitter, the blonde beauty pulled into the Ottawa Westin hotel shortly after noon with a crew of beefy bodyguards. Aguilera was whisked out of her vehicle, into the hotel lobby, and then vanished into an elevator with her entourage following fast behind.

| Aguilera misses Britney - May 18, 2000 | Christina Aguilera craves normalcy and junk food, doesn't want to be labelled, considers herself a hard worker, has a bad cough and misses old friend Britney Spears.
The wee Genie In A Bottle singer yesterday revealed these and other details about herself during a Q&A session at the Paramount movie theatre here, where media and a select group of about 75 fans gathered.
Aguilera, in town for last night's Intimate & Interactive special on MuchMusic, was blunt during the erratic conference moderated by polyester CITY-TV personality Ed The Sock.

| The Christina Aguilera interview - May 17, 2000 | TORONTO -- Christina Aguilera looks tired and incredibly tiny. Sipping from a glass of orange juice to fight off a cold that forced her to cancel a recent European appearance, the 19-year-old Grammy-winning singer sounds a bit overwhelmed as she lists her upcoming projects.
"Right now, we're getting ready to finish up the Latin album, which I've been in Miami recording for a few weeks now," Aguilera says, "translating a few songs from my debut album and putting a new twist on some new material - -a new R&B/salsa kind of a twist. | Christina Aguilera has a genuine love of her craft - May 19, 2000 | TORONTO -- What a girl wants, what a girl needs --at least in the case of singer Christina Aguilera -- is a good sense of humour.
And a genuine love of her craft.
The pop diva is only 19 years old and already she's having to learn how to deal with the not-so-pleasant aspects of making her way up music's highly competitive ranks.
Since winning the best new artist Grammy in February -- beating out critical favourite Macy Gray -- the blond, petite singer has been linked with Prince William by the tabloids (who had her competing with fellow former Mousketeer Britney Spears for his attentions... |

One twenty-eight-year-old woman was hit by a car when she tried to cross the road and some fans were treated for asthma attacks by emergency technicians although the police say no one was taken to the hospital or arrested.

| Aguilera plays high school show - Dec 17, 1999 | MILWAUKEE (AP) -- It took 1.6 million index cards for Franklin High School students to get a visit from pop star Christina Aguilera.

She just doesn't agree with them.
"Everybody gets compared to someone," says the 18-year-old suburban Pittsburgh native while in town last week on a promotional trip. "But we are two very different artists. Christina Aguilera vexes those who want their babes on one side or the other of the vixen/virgin fence. When her record company asked her to change her name, the half-Ecuadorian, half-Irish singer stayed true to her raza roots. | Sexual Stereotyping - Aug 18, 2003 | "I’m not conservative when it comes to that sex stuff. When I read this quote it made me think a lot more about how people label so much. You know how your called a slut if you kiss more than 5 guys in a month or in the same day. But if a guy does it he is praised for it. It’s like a game for them. You also see th... |

Now, I'm not a regular reader of Rolling Stone, nor do I delve into the modern/alternative/rap/pop music scene often; in fact, in the last five years, I've probably only picked up the magazine a total of a half a dozen times, but I'm still thoroughly pissed at the new form of the thing.
