The "2003 MTV Video Music Awards" are right around the rocking corner and one thing is certain: This year's wild show will be one to remember! Why? Because comedian CHRIS ROCK is back after a brief hiatus to host the fun awards festivities live on Thursday, Aug. 28th, from New York City! ET's fab STEVEN COJOCARU and CHRIS BOOKER will be first on the front lines, backstage and in the middle of all the MTV mania, of course. Watch tonight's ET for the latest pre-awards action!

Tuesday, Booker was at Radio City Music Hall for a final peek at the star seating charts, and, yes, they are seating JUSTIN on the opposite side of the auditorium from BRITNEY!

With that in mind, he asked Rock if the comic planned to comment on Justin's recent celeb outing with CAMERON DIAZ. "I have not figured out a Cameron Diaz/Justin Timberlake joke yet," Rock said, but he hinted that ASHTON KUTCHER better watch out!

Booker also caught COLDPLAY as the Brit sensation rehearsed for the big show. As usual, MTV has assembled a superstar line-up of music's tightest acts. Joining Rock this year as performers are CHRISTINA AGUILERA, METALLICA, MARY J. BLIGE and BEYONCÉ -- among a few other surprises!

And the hot-steppin' nominees are ... MISSY "MISDEMEANOR" ELLIOTT -- who "worked it" to lead the musical pack with eight nods. Right behind her is pop king Timberlake with seven nominations.

Also in "da nominees club": Newcomer 50 CENT, EMINEM, JOHNNY CASH, THE WHITE STRIPES, BEYONCÉ, Christina Aguilera, KELLY CLARKSON, MYA, RADIOHEAD, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE and JENNIFER LOPEZ, who all received multiple nominations.

Last year's big winner was EMINEM, who nabbed four awards, including the coveted Best Video of The Year for Without Me, and Best Male Video. PINK snapped up the Best Female Video for Get The Party Started and MICHELLE BRANCH walked away with the coveted Viewers' Choice statuette. Don't miss the hip awards show when it airs live from N.Y.C. on Thursday, August 28th, at 8 p.m. EDT/PDT.
