MILAN - Christina Aguilera, pop's raunchiest princess, got together with Italian designer Donatella Versace yesterday for the announcement that the American is to be the new face of the Versace label.
"It's just so great. I've got this ad campaign coming up with Donatella and Versace, so I'm very excited and this is a whole new world for me, so that's very exciting," Aguilera said before taking her seat for Versace's autumn/winter 2003/4 show.
Donatella said details of the advertising campaign had to be finalised but her new outfits were inspired by Aguilera's all-singing, all-dancing success.
Aguilera has come a long way since she started her career as a pig-tailed poppet on US television show the Mickey Mouse club, crawling through a mud-wrestling ring stripped to bra and knickers in her latest video Dirrty.
Since bursting on to the pop scene in 1999 with Genie in a Bottle she has sold 10 million albums and topped not only the charts but also society pages' worst-dressed lists for her grungy style. |
