| 2003 Celebrity Fabulousness: The Year in Review - Dec 27, 2003 | Christina mentioned:
"Most Fabulous Makeover: Clay Aiken, for his superstar overhaul that really did do wonders for making the man match the voice. Who knew a little eyebrow dye and some decent hair product could do so much for a dude? (Christina Aguilera snares second place here for her new black hair -- her split ends will thank her for ages, we're sure. Plus, how much bluer do her eyes look now?)"

| Aguilera Visits Domestic Abuse Shelter - Dec 22, 2003 | PITTSBURGH - Christina Aguilera (news) sings about the abuse she says she and her mother suffered at the hand of her father in the song "I'm Okay" — but Aguilera has done more than just sing about domestic abuse.
The 23-year-old pop singer, who hails from the Pittsburgh suburb of Wexford, on Sunday visited the Women's Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh where she has donated $200,000.
Aguilera spent two hours signing autographs and talking to the 18 women and 23 children at the shelter in Pittsburgh's Oakland section. She also helped wrap Christmas presents for children at t... |

| The rock year in music: 2003's notable news, stars and shows - Dec 28, 2003 | The rock year was dominated by news stories, not by new trends or new stars. The Kiss (Madonna's smooch with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera on the MTV Video Music Awards), the child-molestation charges against Michael Jackson and the death of Johnny Cash were the pop year's history-making events.
Locally, an important new venue debuted. The White River Amphitheatre in Auburn, with its 20,000-seat capacity and state-of-the-art facilities, presented a challenge to the similarly sized Gorge Amphitheatre in Grant County. As it turned out, both outdoor venues had great summers — the Gorge ... |

| Editorial Asides - Dec 28, 2003 | | CELEBRITIES don't always put their fame to good use, but mark pop star Christina Aguilera as the exception. Her pre-Christmas visit to the Women's Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh, in Oakland, was an exciting occasion for the group of 18 women and 23 children under the shelter's protection. Originally from Wexford, the famous hometown girl has a live connection to the center -- her mother, Shelly Kearns, is a member of the board who says she suffered domestic abuse herself. During her concert tour last summer, the singer raised $200,000 for the center by selling various items in auctio... |

| Where do we go from hair? - Dec 21, 2003 | These are some things that have caught my eye ... or ear ... or fancy:
Fashion advertising still astounds me. Christina Aguilera is hired as the muse for Versace, and who does she look like in the ads but a younger version of Donatella Versace? The newly black-haired Aguilera is distinctly a platinum blonde in the ads and the signature eye goo is gone, gone, gone. I just wish she would use the gift of her voice rather than the perks as a fashion diva. There's time for her real talent later, I guess.
More advertising befuddlement: Natural is nice, but why would designer Jill Sander use a f... |

| Debate on musicians using their songs in ads plays on - Aug 19, 2003 | Ex-Wexford resident Christina Aguilera and tour pal Justin Timberlake are striking their own poses in a Target commercial, which shows them in front of a "Justin & Christina" billboard and images of their CDs. A voice announces that their albums can be purchased at Target, along with a Target-exclusive CD featuring previously unreleased tunes from both stars. Target also is sponsoring the pair's "Justified & Stripped" tour.

| Music Review: Aguilera, Timberlake pack Arena with powerful pop - Jul 29, 2003 | Midway through Christina Aguilera's homecoming gig last night at the Mellon Arena, a male stripper was briefly yet hopelessly trapped inside a prop when a curtain refused to budge and stage hands had to crawl inside the prop with Mr. Chippendale to get the curtain up and save the day.
And people wonder why most maids of honor never think of Spinal Tap when planning a bachelorette party ...
Aguilera also gave a few too many self-help sermons on the importance of being yourself -- or, at the very least, Xtina, your new alter ego, in Christina's case.
And there was one excruciating skit in wh... |

| Christina should stop playing with that skanky hose - Jul 06, 2003 | Christina Aguilera Los Angeles, Calif. July 6, 2003
Dear Christina,
How are you? I am fine.
Right, like you care.
I came across an item in your hometown newspaper, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, and it compelled me to correspond, as this item filled me with angst, bathos, possibly pathos, evident ennui, and definitely excess stomach acid. I'll come right to the point.
What is this stuff with the hose?
I know it's probably a long story, but I've got time. I'm writing to you, after all.
Your latest music video, the paper says, has been deemed too explicit for MTV, which is, frankly, a stag... |

| This summer, short shorts are really short - Jun 22, 2003 | | For the past several decades, teens have delighted in shocking their parents with barely-there styles. Consider the hot pants, mini-skirts and halter tops of the '60s and the skin-tight designer jeans and tube tops of the '70s. Or the shoulder-baring sweat shirts of "Flashdance" and "Fame" in the '80s, and even the staid fashions of the '90s gave rise to today's midriff tops, made famous by the likes of Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. |

| Newcomer scoops up top Grammy awards - Feb 24, 2003 | | The three nominees with local connections went home empty handed. Pittsburgh opera singer Vivica Genaux lost to Renee Fleming for Classical Vocal Performance. Wexford native and onetime Best New Artist Christina Aguilera lost to Santana and Michelle Branch in the Pop Collaboration with Vocals category. And Spoken Word Comedy Album went to Robin Williams rather than Pittsburgh native Dennis Miller. |

| Recording Reviews: 11/1/02 - Nov 01, 2003 | When did Britney Spears become the wholesome one?
Christina Aguilera bares more than her soul on "Stripped" in a blatant attempt at putting another mile or two between herself and her squeaky-clean formative years with Britney on the Mickey Mouse Club.
And it works. I am convinced that she's as "Dirrty" as she says she is. And maybe even dirtier. I know she's got the piercing where it counts.
On the opening cut, "Can't Hold Us Down," she's joined by Lil' Kim in a girl-power anthem that takes a shot or two at Eminem but ultimately makes it all too clear that he... |

| Naked Truth - Dec 28, 2003 | In 2003, naked was in.
Not the nekkid-naked of the Britney Spears- Christina Aguilera-Beyoncé-"Shake Yo' Tailfeather" persuasion - that never seems to go out of style. No, this was the year when all the industry stresses of falling sales and fading profits, combined with the world-wide stresses of war and terrorism, led to loads of unguarded, unvarnished moments.
The Dixie Chicks found out the hard way what telling the naked truth can do to a career, though somehow it didn't hurt their defenders, such as Bruce Springsteen and R.E.M. It never seemed to hurt the great Johnny Cash and... |

| Christina's local appearance captures students' attention - Apr 18, 2001 | Nicole Mangel swears she has downloaded 800 pictures of Christina Aguilera to her computer.
But they evidently weren't enough. She needed to see the pop diva in person.
The 16-year-old thought she had her chance yesterday.
From a friend at Beattie Technical School, Mangel, 16, learned that Aguilera, who lived in Marshall before fame struck, was visiting Avonworth Middle and Senior High School. Students won the visit after raising more than $11,000 for the Children's Hospital Free Care Fund during December.
So with 16-year-old friends Maggie Sikorska and Jessy Wieseckel, Mangel took her mo... |

| What's the deal with music mags? - Dec 19, 2003 | "Christina Aguilera, Woman of the Year!"
She's not on the cover of Time, no, but she and her raven tresses do dominate the cover of this month's Blender.
"Christina Aguilera, Woman of the Year!"
It's the most ludicrous pick possible. (And is that exclamation point really necessary?) Christina's album "Stripped" came out in October 2002. The media frenzy died down by the time 2003 rolled around, and even though the single "Beautiful" hit on multiple radio formats in a big way, we're oh so over it by now.
"Christina Aguilera, Woman of the Year!&q... |
