| | People in the news: Aguilera settles with label over early album | Jul 07, 2001 |
After some legal wrangling, E! reports that Christina Aguilera has reached a settlement with Warlock Records, allowing the label to release "Just Be Free," an album Aguilera recorded when she was 14.
The singer's lawsuit -- filed in May -- claimed the record's producers illegally sold the distribution rights to Warlock.
Although the details of the settlement haven't been disclosed, it's known that Warlock will be able to use Aguilera's name and image on the disc. Also, each disc must be accompanied by a statement from Aguilera, explaining why she recorded the songs she wanted to forget she ever sang.
"At that young age, I made the recordings as a possible steppingstone to a career in music, which is my ultimate passion. ... The recordings do not in any way reflect my current musical taste and where I am as an artist," she says in the statement.
Don't fret, Christina ... we know where you are as an artist. We've seen the Coke ads. |
