Family wants to go home

A mountain family from Alaska with a strong musical talent needs some help getting home.

That's the premise behind a pair of concerts designed to help the Pilgrim family return to their wilderness home.

It's a heart-tugging story from start to finish. One child had his finger torn off in an accident, and the father and son flew to Portland to have surgeons attempt to reattach it.

Other family members drove down to be with the two.

Although they are accomplished musicians, the first time this family was in front of a microphone was two weeks ago.

Clark County residents like Chuck Cushman and Carol Harley have helped find accommodations for the family while members are here.

Now the family will perform in concerts at 8 p.m. Friday at Artichoke Music, 3130 S.E. Hawthorne, Portland, and 7 p.m. Sunday at Old Liberty Theater in Ridgefield. Tickets are $12. Funds will be used to finance the family's trip back to Alaska.

For tickets, call 360-887-7260 or 360-687-2505.
