by Mary Barber

Summary:

No Aguilera: Christina Aguilera has canceled her summer concert tour, including a July 3 stop at DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston. Apparently, the powerful but tiny singer has worn out her vocal cords. Get refunds wherever you bought your tickets.

Two singers who are trying to remake their image -- or jumpstart their stalling careers -- will be hitting the Detroit area this week.

J.C. Chasez, formerly of 'N Sync, brings his small-club act to Clutch Cargo's in Pontiac on Saturday. Doors open at 6 p.m.; Kenneth Thomas will open. Tickets are $18.

Chris Robinson, formerly of the Black Crowes, brings his new band, the New Earth Mud, to St. Andrew's Hall in Detroit at 7 p.m. Monday. Tickets are $17.50.

Other major shows this week:

The rejuvenated Flatlanders will hit The Ark in Ann Arbor at 8 p.m. Friday. Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Joe Ely and Butch Hancock have managed to release another superb album -- their third in more than 30 years. Reckless Kelly will open. Tickets are $25.

Yes is back with Jon Anderson, Steve Howe, Chris Squire, Rick Wakeman and Alan White. They'll stop at The Palace of Auburn Hills at 7:30 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $29.50-$59.50.

THC and Van Hunt will open for hot new singer Angie Stone at 8 p.m. Saturday at St. Andrew's Hall in Detroit. Tickets are $28.

Default rocks Detroit's Majestic Theatre at 9 p.m. Saturday. Tickets are $16.

The Strokes show whether they can survive the hype at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Detroit's State Theatre. Tickets are $25.

Harry Connick Jr. brings a big band to Ann Arbor's Hill Auditorium at 8 p.m. Monday and to Kalamazoo's Miller Auditorium at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets to the Ann Arbor show are $35-$79.50. Tickets for Kalamazoo are $38-$84.

Blues maestro Charlie Musselwhite performs at 8 p.m. Wednesday at The Ark in Ann Arbor. Tickets are $17.50.

Itzhak Perlman, arguably the finest violinist in the world, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Kalamazoo's Miller Auditorium. Tickets are $35-$50.
