TORONTO, July 29 /CNW/ - MuchMusic and Citytv Toronto will present a LIVE
simulcast of the "2004 MTV Video Music Awards" airing direct from Miami's
American Airlines Arena on Sunday, August 29th @ 8pm ET. Citytv Vancouver
will air the program at 8:30pm PT.
Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Usher, OutKast and No Doubt have topped the list of VMA
nominees. In addition, the first round of performers confirmed for this 21st
annual awards show include: Usher, Jessica Simpson, Kanye West, Hoobastank,
Jet and Yellowcard.
Jay-Z received six nominations for his music video "99 Problems," while
his superdiva gal pal Beyoncé raked in four for "Naughty Girl" and another for
"Me, Myself and I." Usher also splits five nods over two different videos,
earning four for "Yeah" and one for "Burn." Other artists to receive five
nominations were OutKast for "Hey Ya" and No Doubt for "It's My Life."
This year's VMAs will not feature a host. Presenters and celebrity guests
to be announced.

- Just before the LIVE simulcast, MuchMusic airs "Countdown to the 2004
MTV Video Music Awards" beginning @ 7pm ET on Sunday
August 29th - delivering the latest buzz on performers, presenters and
celebrity guests attending the VMAs, and featuring videos and sound
bites from this year's hottest nominees.
- It's the first time this awards show has not been held in Los Angeles
or New York.
- Many of music's biggest stars will arrive at this year's VMAs in
luxury yachts as part of their red-carpet entrance.
