| The YUM-TV awards - Aug 31, 2004 | THE MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday was the most blingtastic showbiz bash ever.
Celebs including Beyonce, J-Lo and Christina Aguilera looked stunning in sequins, metallics and glitter.
Here Fashion Editor ERICA DAVIES reveals who shone in the style stakes – and who failed to sparkle.
BEYONCE BLINGIN' ----------------------------------------------------------- BEYONCE looked like she'd raided the wardrobe from a groovy Seventies movie. The singer, with her new blonde tresses, sported a shiny gold hotpants suit.

| MTV Awards rapped up - Aug 31, 2004 | Sadly, the MTV Video Music Awards didn't feature a Madonna, Spears and Aguilera snog-fest.
But we're sure it was quite good anyway.
Hip-hop dominated the event, with Outkast and rapper Jay-Z both scooping four Moonmen awards at the Miami bash.
We've no idea why they're called Moomen's.
Outkast nabbed the Video of the Year award for Hey Ya but it also got the award for best hip-hop video, best art direction and best special effects.
Which is slightly OTT.
Jay-Z took the award for best rap video for 99 Problems which was filmed in black and white and depicts a rapper being killed.

| Down 'n' Dirrty at the VMA - Aug 31, 2004 | Christina Aguilera may be dating Jordan Bratman but she was definitely working that lesbian vibe Sunday night in Miami. The "Dirrty" girl and some mannish ladies did their best to turn heads at the party Tommy Puccio threw in the Raleigh Hotel.
"Christina was leaning back in a director's chair while the girls danced between her fishnets," a witness tells us. "She even hitched her ankles up on one of her girlfriend's shoulders."
No one was more riveted by this 5a.m. spectacle than Paris Hilton.
"Paris clearly wanted to get in on this," says our spy. &... |

| Chorus Of Politics Highlights VMAs - Aug 30, 2004 | Also impressive on the piano was none other than Nelly, who kicked off "Tilt Ya Head Back" playing the keys while Christina Aguilera sang and danced above him. The "Chicago"-inspired number also featured a couple of impressive dance breakdowns, including a tap routine.
Before the show, a demure Aguilera was coy about her performance with Nelly.
Asked if it is naughty or nice, Aguilera says, “Oh we always throw in a little bit of both.” Nelly added, “You'll have to wait and see. I'm not giving it up. But it's hot. It's hot.”

| VMA's Not So Cool Reception - Aug 30, 2004 | While some stars were literally sweatin' last night's steamy Miami telecast (100 percent humidity ain't nobody's friend, folks), the most shocking story from MTV VMA's wasn't what was happening onstage, but rather what was going on behind the scenes.
According to the New York Daily News, the night before the big event, Paris Hilton and Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen partied until 5 AM, while Nelly and Christina Aguilera's perspective posse's traded barbs and blows, severely threatening the likelihood of the duo actually making it on to the stage (which they finally did).
