They 'killed the song' too - Feb 07, 2005
Although Aguilera is often relegated to the bubblegum pop music category alongside Britney Spears, she has always had R&B leanings.

Her 1999 breakthrough single Genie In A Bottle is very much influenced by R&B. As for her latest work, she has a duet with Nelly, one of the best hip-hop artistes today, on the song Tilt Ya Head.

Nelly even said she 'killed the song', which is a great compliment in the black music world.

Super Bowl XXXIX: Beyond The GameType: Internet Article
SUPER BOWL XXXIX: BEYOND THE GAME - Feb 08, 2005
The Best: AmeriQuest Mortgage

Premise: A young man prepares tomato soup with his Persian cat. Why it works: A clever cartoon -- the soup spills, the cat sprawls on the floor and a woman arrives home to see her man clutching a knife above what looks like a dead cat and blood -- with a subtle message: "Don't judge too quickly."

HONORABLE MENTION: Verizon Wireless' string of miniaturized superstars, including Shaquille O'Neal, Deion Sanders and Christina Aguilera, in a nifty inverse of celebrity ego with cool special effects.

Best trip down memory lane: Silestone

Premise: Mike Ditka...

Tamer commercials amusing but forgettableType: Internet Article
Tamer commercials amusing but forgettable - Feb 07, 2005
But most ads mined our celebrity worship instead of our imagination. Who cares if Carson Kressley checks out a handsome guy in a Diet Pepsi ad? Who remembers Carson Kressley anyway? A mini Kid Rock and Christina Aguilera for Verizon? Mini interest, more like.

Surely none of the ads offended anyone. But here's the price you pay: No one could have been all that entertained, either.

Scoring few pointsType: Internet Article
Scoring few points - Feb 07, 2005
Celebrities abounded, sometimes to the detriment of the product. The idea of a miniaturized-star fad, in a commercial featuring Kid Rock, Christina Aguilera and Shaquille O'Neal, was clever -- so clever that it overshadowed the product it was pushing (some Verizon camera-phone device, I think). Celebrity-driven fads were a recurring theme:

MTV Asia Aid a success but there's room for improvement - Feb 08, 2005
Alicia Keys, who took over hosting duties after Christina Aguilera bailed, did a stand-up job that night. She knew when to be serious, when to smile, when to react to the audience and when to laugh. Still, it would have been nice to have a co-host, as was the practise in the past three MTV Asia Awards.

Time for a new look - Feb 08, 2005
Apparently Christina Aguilera's 1920s flapper look hasn't helped her land on any best-dressed lists.

The London-based magazine consults with stylists and more than 8,000 reader-submitted votes to compile its list, with supermodel Kate Moss at No. 1....

TV commercials almost as good as the game - Feb 07, 2005
But the Verizon ad for its new video-cast cell phone technology gets the nod for "miniaturizing" celebs like Kid Rock, Shaquille O'Neal and Deion Sanders. Admit it: You laughed when mini-Christina Aguilera was blown off her vanity by that hair dryer.

Who’s That Girl?Type: Magazine Article
Who’s That Girl? - Feb 06, 2005
She speaks in a slip of a whisper, sings with a roar of the soul. She relishes pain so that she can turn it on its head. When you think she’s all over blonde, she’ll show you dark. Christina Aguilera has made an art of transformation. But what is she really like? Chrissy Iley investigates.

PEOPLE often comment about Christina, ‘such a little girl, such a big voice’. So I was expecting small, although maybe not quite this small and practically like an ironing board in profile. Under five feet in heels, a stripy T-shirt, hair in an anonymous bandana, skin an even, dark caramel.
