Christina caves into unhealthy pressure to ditch her curves and lose weight...

After being slammed by music industry insiders for putting on too much weight, pop sensation Christina Aguilera has slimmed down dramatically in the past few months.

Sources claim she has dropped 10 kilos in five months after succumbing to industry pressure to be thin.

"We're worried that Christina is taking the whole weight loss thing too far," says one pal.
"It's like she thinks the more weight she loses the more successful she'll become."

She displayed her new curves earlier this year in a clingy, hot pink dress which sparked pregnancy rumours and cruel headlines such as Christina "Sag-uilera" in the UK and US press.

At the time, music industry experts warned that her new, rounder shape could impact negatively on her career.

"Christina is known for showing her gorgeous, toned figure," one source commented. "It's her trademark. The new, rounder Christina has gone down like a lead balloon."

One report claims she was ordered to hit the gym to shed kilos and the singer has clearly taken the criticism to heart.

The star may be proud of her new slim figure, but experts have warned against yoyo dieting. According to the American Heart Association, fad dieting contributes to numerous health problems and chronic diseases. "Diets that rely on dramatic weight loss in a short amount of time are unhealthy and do nothing to keep weight off in the long run," says an expert.

"Most people who try it end up in a cycle of yoyo dieting where they repeatedly lose, then gain weight."

Although the 22-year-old has lost about 10 kilos, she insists it wasn't because she decided to lose weight by cutting calories. "No, I didn't diet. I never diet."

Instead she attributes the weight loss to working out and her vigorous dance routines. Christina has been rehearsing and performing for her Stripped world tour, which heads to Australia in December.

According to her personal trainer Ashley Borden, Christina didn't get "enough nutrition" while she was on her last tour and has since realised the importance of getting into shape for her live concerts.

So in preparation, she began singing while running on the treadmill for an hour a day.

"Some people think being skinny is all that matters, but tours are like an athletic competition," Christina explains. The diva has also been doing lots of boxing and weight training and following a nutritionist's healthy-eating plan.

It's well-known how much Christina loves her fast food. But insiders say record company bosses banned her from eating burgers to whip the "fast food junkie" into shape.

Christina, who once admitted to being addicted to French fries, has cut her junk-food fixes down to just once a week. "It was once a day [before]," Ashley explains.

The trainer say his biggest challange has been helping Christina kick her fast-food habit. "I weaned her off burgers," he says. "[Now] she's eating lots of carbs, so she has more stamina for her dancing."

After months of working out and healthier eating, the Beautiful singer is now sporting the same taut figure she once flaunted in her Dirrty video clip.

While Ashley says his charge dislikes all the hard training, it is paying off. "She hates working out," he says. "But it doesn't matter because she has to."

Although Christina publicly embraced her womanly curves, she is now pleased with her new, leaner physique. "[When I look in the mirror] I see myself, a girl who is more comfortable in her skin than ever before," she says.

"I'm very happy with the way I look."
