 Christina Aguilera may be planning the ultimate oneupmanship of Britney Spears – by marrying boyfriend Jordan Bratman and conceiving his child before her arch rival and fiancé Kevin Federline get a chance to say “I do,” sources to tell The Enquirer.
“Christina’s suddenly talking about bringing her wedding from ‘sometime down the line’ to ‘as soon as possible,’” says a baffled pal. “Only two things would make her say that – and she’s definitely NOT pregnant!”
Behind Aguilera’s accelerated plan to marry and have a baby is her longstanding, well-documented feud with Spears, which sources tell The Enquirer never went away despite an apparent lull in hostilities.
They started out as rivals on Mickey Mouse Club, and there has been no letting up over the years.
“It’ still there, simmering away on the backburner,” a second source close to Aguilera tells The Enquirer. “Christina feels as competitive toward Britney as she knows Britney feels toward her. It’s not enough just to fight it out on the music charts.
“It’s no secret that Britney wants to get married and have Kevin’s baby. That’s exactly what Christina wants with Jordan, even though they both deny it. If Christina can do it all first and make Britney look like an also-ran – so much better!
As for Aguilera really going so far as to marry and produce a child just to upstage a rival, sources say it absolutely fits her competitive personality profile to do so.
“Christina and Jordan are crazy in love and plan to wed anyway,” explains the first pal. “Doing it sooner rather than later is no big deal for them, so the real thrill for Christina is timing things so she gets all the attention and Britney gets hardly any.
“Don’t think for a second Christina wouldn’t move her plans ahead in a hurry if she knew it would make Britney look like she was a day late and a dollar short. These are performers who thrive on getting one over on the other, any way they can.”
Turning whispers into roars that the couple soon plans to tie the knot – aside from persistent denials that they are even engaged! – are secret house-hunting jaunts as well as conversations with friends and family being turned into baby talk, say pals.
“Christina and Jordan sound like they’re in nesting and breeding mode,” adds the second pal. “The talk is all about who to invite to the wedding, baby names and where the nursery is going to go. They don’t sound like they’re kidding around, either.”
But the baby race is just the latest in a long list of battlegrounds. After calling Britney “a lost little girl who desperately needs guidance,” in a magazine interview, Christina sent a letter of apology, but complained later that she didn’t hear back, saying: “… I’d like a response. We do have a history.”
In an interview with Blender magazine, catty Christina seemed to hint Britney had lip-synched at the MTV Video Music Awards saying: “These people aren’t artists, they’re just performers – fake and superficial.”
Reports also speculated Christina was upset because Brit got more attention for the famous kiss with Madonna than she did. Their battle to be the sexiest and raunchiest is plain to see.
And in the ABC family movie “A Brave New Girl,” written and produced by Britney and her mom Lynne, there seemed to be two thinly veiled Christina-looking characters, including a druggy, slutty bulimic, and another songbird who loses both a singing prize and the boy to the heroine, who based on Brit.
And the feud goes on. |
