| Jazz pianist Herbie Hancock imagines the `Possibilities' - Sep 14, 2005 |  Pop tart Christina Aguilera has to rate as among the least likely candidates jazz piano great Herbie Hancock would choose as a musical partner.
But Xtina is only one of the surprise duet partners on Hancock's aptly titled new CD "Possibilities.''
Known primarily as a serious jazz dude who made his bones playing in Miles Davis' illustrious '60s quintet, Hancock has ventured into pop waters before: He kicked it with his funky Headhunters in the '70s and launched the influential techno "Rockit'' in the '80s. | DJ Premier Hooks Up w/Christina Aguilera - Sep 14, 2005 |  After momentarily disappearing from the mainstream, DJ Premier is slated to produce several songs, including the first single off Christina Aguilera's forthcoming album.
While in Hamilton, Canada to attend the Canadian DMC World DJ Championship Finals, Primo phoned into The Mixtape Massacre show at Toronto's CKLN FM (88.1) station. During the brief conversation, the Boom Bap legend revealed he had been working with Aguilera and had given her some trademark Primo tracks.

| Herbie Hancock - Possibilities review - Sep 14, 2005 | First off, Possibilities is not a jazz album. (Ah, that collective jazz-snob grouse.) Herbie Hancock, one of America's finest jazz pianists, took pains concocting a diverse, modern pop album with world-music overtones and jazz undertones.
The misfires: "Stitched Up" finds John Meyer bland and smug; Christina Aguilera overemotes the way William Shatner overacts on "Song for You"; and Hancock sounds lost amid the respective blues and soul boisterousness of Jonny Lang and Joss Stone on "When Love Comes to Town."
