DJ Premier has produced tracks on hard-hitting classic albums like Nas’, Illmatic, Jay-Z’s, Reasonable Doubt and the Notorious B.I.G.’s, Ready to Die.

So, after news broke about Premier working on Christina Aguilera’s new LP, many hip hop fans may have been surprised. However, Premier wasn’t surprised at all. In fact, he’s willing to work with any artist that has the goal to make good music.

“I did five joints on Christina Aguilera’s album. It’s music. I’m about hip hop, jazz, soul, country … any music that got feeling,” Premo told Vibe.com last Thursday evening (June 8), as he observed performances from the likes of Rakim and Common at Marc Ekco’s, Save The Rhinos benefit concert in New York City’s Central Park. “She’s helping my career expand and vice versa. I’m glad it worked out.”

Premier also revealed that he’s busy working on his solo album. Although he chose to stay tight-lipped about the finer details of the LP, he did promise a smash compilation.

“I don’t have a date, but it’s going to be on and poppin,'" said Premier with a confident grin.

In addition to his own album, Premier is currently in the lab, concocting beats for the likes of Nas, Royce da 5’9” and M.O.P..
