I: You are married since November to Jordan Bratman, what do you like most, being Mrs. Bratman?
C: The unconditional love and support I receive from Mr. Bratman. Especially since I have never been a girl who dreamt of a big wedding in white.
I: But…?
C: I have always been focused on my career as a singer. But when the one man crosses your way and your heart says yes, then you shouldn’t let it slip away.
I: Your new single is called “Ain't No Other Man”, when have you felt that he is the right man?
C: That came with time, it became clear to me how much he enriched my life. Jordan saved me.
I: In one song you sing “save me from myself”, why did you have do be saved from yourself?
C: Sometimes you fall into a hole and are captured in a “dark mood”. Everyone needs this one certain person who saves you from those feelings. And he did that!
I: What was the reason for your “dark mood”?
C: I was emotionally tattered when I recorded “stripped”. Specially because I was treated very bad from people I trusted very much.
I: Friends or people you worked with?
C: People I have worked with, for example from my management which used to be like a family to me. I went through a very tough time, I couldn’t have done it without my husband!
I: Doesn’t he have issues being married to a rich and famous woman?
C: No, and that’s one of the reasons I feel so attracted to him: He is ambitious and wants to stand on his own feet. I know that he would never take advantage of me.
I: You deal with a lot through your lyrics. Where would you be without music?
C: I probably wouldn’t exist. Music is very therapeutic for me, it helps me. But it’s not only a therapy it used to be an escape for me, when I was a little girl. Through music I escaped to a dream world, because I haven't had the happiest childhood.
I: You and your mother were beaten by your father. You dedicate a song, called “oh mother” to your mother Shelly.
C: Yes, I wanted to make a song about the dreams she had of her marriage, which became nightmares. In this song I thank her for saving us from the abuses. I really admire my mother that she had the strength to get us out of there and never returned back to him.
I: Do you have a relationship to your father?
C: There is no reason to have one! I think, you have to deserve and work for a relationship – and he never did anything for that. So why should I get in touch with him?!
I: Did you have to go to a therapy because of your childhood?
C: I went to a therapist to talk about the abuses. I think that helped me a lot. Somewhen I stopped the sessions and started talking to my friends. I always talk myself free, so that nothing lies on my soul.
I: That’s a good attitude – which you also have towards your body. You have allowed “GQ” to take naked pictures of you.
C: The body of a woman is something beautiful. It is great to show it in a right way. I enjoy my sexuality; it makes me strong, I am proud of my body!
I: And to have such a body you make a lot of diets and sports, right?
C: I am from nature a delicate person; I got that from my mother (LOL, right). But of course I eat healthy and I do a lot of sport. That is very important. I definitely feel better, when I’m in shape!
I: Yes you have to be in shape when you are back on stage. I heard you are going on tour through Germany?
C: Yes next fall. I can’t wait for it. This time my music will be inspired by the music style from the 20ies, 30ies and 40ies. I love the Soul, Blues and Jazz from that area. I just want my fans to enjoy and be happy.
I: You seem to be very ladylike, mature and soft, is the “dirty” part of you definitely over?
C: I am softer now than I used to be but my provocative side will never die!
