Can I edit a picture you have and upload it again?
No. Editing pictures is strictly forbidden. The only time you're allowed to edit a picture is if you scan it yourself and you want to enhance the scan.

Can I put some of the pictures from here on my site?
Of course you can, Christina Multimedia is a teamwork based site, you may use the pictures without any need to credit the archive.

Can I remove a tag?
No. You must possess the picture in untagged form in order to submit it as an untagged picture.  You cannot de-tag any existing tagged pictures in order to gain more points, anyone who is found doing this will have points deducted and risk being banned from uploading to CPA.

Do I get points for submitting pictures?
In a simple answer, yes, but it does depend on the type of picture.  For example there are more points for submitting a HQ than a normal sized picture.  Then it depends on whether the picture has been tagged or not.

The points for pictures are:

Tagged pictures of any kind = no picture points
Normal untagged picture = 1 picture point
HQ picture = 2 picture points
Video captures = no picture points

Picture points are transferred to membership points with the ratio 20:1 for pictures uploaded and 4:1 for picture points. For example if you have uploaded 1000 pictures and have 400 picture points, you get (1000/20)+(400/4) = 50 + 100 = 150 membership points.

There are also some categories where you don't get picture points for the pictures:  all categories under Misc Content. But you will always get membership points for the pictures you upload.

The member who has gotten the most picture points in a month, gets Contribution Benefits for one month.

How are you able to have so many pictures?
There are two things, the Christina Multimedia members who add pictures to the archive and also the Master Server.  Without this, we would not be able to host pictures.  The Master Server is expensive to maintain and if you think you can contribute to it please visit the Contribution Center.  Contributing money also gives you points which will help to raise your membership level.

How can I become a picture moderator?
To become a moderator you must have uploaded many pictures and of course to the correct categories to prove you know the rules of CPA. When the position is open you can apply to it here.

How can you tell which pictures are High Quality (HQ)?
There is a size detector which detects whether a picture is a HQ or not; to qualify as a HQ, both sides must be over 800 pixels.  Stretching a picture to this size will not work and you will be found out and have points deducted. HQ pictures must be of good quality so even if your picture is bigger than the size requirements, if it's blurry or otherwise not of good quality, it will be edited to non-HQ.

How come I uploaded a picture but got no points for it?
If you didn't get points it is probably because you uploaded a picture which has a tag on it. Also there are no picture points given to video captures, fan art or merchandise pictures.

How come the edit or delete option disappears after 1 day that the pictures are submitted?
After 1 day, it is presumed that you put the picture in the correct place and so you do not need to edit or delete the picture.  If you discover that you have put the picture in the wrong place, you can use the report feature on CPA or PM Bunsen in the forum.  But if it's only one picture, the picture moderators will take care of it and you don't have to worry about it.

How do I upload a picture? (sub-category exists)
Go to the sub-category where you wish to upload the picture and click on SUMBIT PIC. Note: Some categories are locked, if you think you have pictures that go into those categories, contact Bunsen.

I created a subcategory by accident, what do I do?
To delete a sub-category, click the Edit sub-category button, and delete it.  You can only delete a sub-category you created if there have been no pictures submitted to the sub-category; if there are pictures in it, only a Picture Moderator can delete it.  You can use the report feature on CPA for this.

I get an error when viewing a picture that says I'm not allowed to see the picture. What does this mean?
There could be something wrong with the server so you should contact a picture moderator or a manager in the forum. Do not use the "Report It" feature for this but go to the forum and post the problem in the Troubleshooting forum.

I have some pictures that aren't in the archive, but I don't know where they belong. What should I do?
Ask a Picture Moderator or Manager (Bunsen, spit2001). If you're absolutely sure that we don't have the pictures yet (they're rare for example), you can upload them into an Unknown section.

I lost points, why?
You lost points for one of the following reasons; the picture already existed in the archive and so it was deleted and your points removed. It is Picture Moderators' job to check for duplicate pictures within subcategories, if your picture was not the first one to be added, you will lose the points you gained, so please check before you submit pictures to see whether they have been added already.

The picture could've also been tagged and maybe you didn't notice it. When a Picture Moderator marks it as tagged, you will lose the points. The third reason would be that a Picture Moderator found the picture to be inappropriate and removed the picture.

I uploaded a picture yesterday but it disappeared. What happened?
The picture may have been a duplicate (we already had the picture) or it was in the wrong place and was moved. Please read the rules on CPA, we don't want to save all versions of pictures, just the best ones. Do NOT upload pictures again if they have been removed, there was a reason why they were deleted.

I uploaded the wrong picture by accident, what do I do?
When viewing the picture in its sub-category, click on the Edit Picture icon to the top-right of the picture and click on Delete Picture. This option disappears after 24 hours so you can then use the report feature on CPA or PM Bunsen in the forum. But if you only uploaded one wrong picture or for example one picture twice, it's not that big of a deal and the picture moderators will delete it.

I want to see the pictures in a different order
You can sort the pictures by, size, the submitters screenname, number of views and the date added.  You can do this by going to the sub-category and clicking on the way in which you wish the pictures to be sorted by.  We have tried to facilitate the sorting and classification of the pictures as best as possible so there are multiple orders to view them in.

I want to upload a picture but the sub-category does not exist, what should I do?
Go to the category in which the pictures belong, for example if the picture is from a magazine, go to the Scans category.  You will see all of the sub-categories listed. To add a new sub-category, click on the ADD SUBCATEGORY near the top or bottom of the table.  Then follow the instructions, remembering that the folder name should be simple and can be in all lowercase, but make sure you add the date.  The Name is what will be displayed on the site and so capitalization and no spelling mistakes are preferred. If you know the date when the pictures were taken or the issue of the magazine, please put it in the category properties. Do NOT put the date of the uploading in it (unless of course the pictures were taken the same day you upload them.)

I'm encountering some very strange errors on the site. What should I do?
Either report them in the Contact Center or in the Bug Reports Forum

My picture is a HQ, why haven't I got HQ points?
HQ pictures are determined by a size detector, to qualify as a HQ, both sides must be over 800 pixels. But if the picture is very blurry or otherwise not of high quality, the moderators will edit it to non-HQ. Also if you scan the whole page and Christina's picture is very small, the moderators will edit it to non-HQ. When people see the HQ mark, they're expecting to see a picture that is of good quality, not just a big picture. Trying to make big pictures on purpose to get more points is forbidden and you risk having points deducted or in the worst case, getting banned from CPA.

What are promo codes?
Promo codes are codes that will increase a person's daily bandwidth quota temporarily for one day. At the moment the bandwith is unlimited for everyone so promo codes aren't used.

What does the Bypass Unique Checkbox do when I Submit A Picture?
This option should only be selected if you know that there are no pictures like this that have already been uploaded.  For example if you've been assigned video capping a certain video, or if your pictures are rare. If the duplicate detector says that there is already an identical picture to what you're uploading,  you should check the proper categories to make sure you aren't uploading a duplicate.

What does the Submit Multiple Pictures Checkbox do when I Submit A Picture?
This means that instead of forwarding you to view all of the pictures in the sub-category, it goes back to the upload picture screen so that you can upload another picture.  This is very helpful if you're trying to submit a lot of pictures within a sub-category.

What is a tagged picture?
A tagged picture is a picture that has someone's logo, email address, website's name, copyright mark etc.

What is quota?
Quota is how much bandwidth you can use per day. You will see how much you have used and how much you are able to use each day on the main page of the picture archive. CPA uses group quota, which means that for example Public Members have a certain amount of bandwidth they can use all together. Sometimes when there are new pictures and many people are visiting the archive, the group quota can get full and Public Members have to wait until the next day to see pictures again. But this happens quite rarely.

Where are the pictures stored?
We use additional servers as mirrors, but all pictures are centralized on the master server.  In other words, the helper servers only store parts of the archive, while the master server contains the entire collection.

Why can I not link to a picture?
Linking to pictures and spreading links is called direct linking and it uses a lot of bandwidth unnecessarily.  The Picture Archive has been built with anti-linking coding to make this impossible. Do not direct link to pictures, not even the thumbnails.

Why can I not view pictures?
You need to be signed into a Christina Multimedia account to be able to click on pictures, if not you will only be able to see the thumbnail. If you're logged in and can't see pictures, the server is probably down temporarily.

Why can't I see all categories?
Some categories are restricted for various reasons.

Why can't I upload video captures?
Video capture section uploading is restricted to ensure we get the best quality captures. You can however upload video captures to the 2004 categories but note that they can be deleted afterwards because we want them to be of the best quality and in order.

Why does it say there are more pictures than there are in a category?
Pictures that have certain body parts showing are marked as R-rated and they are only visible to Senior+ Members who are 18 years or older in their forum profile. When you yourself upload partly nude pictures, remember to mark them as R-rated.
