'You know what, I'm very interested in acting, but right now I'm busy promoting my album and going on tour because that's my first love, but I'm very interested in doing some parts that may come my way. I've been offered a few movie parts so far, but I have to really concentrate on singing. But it's something I'm interested in doing eventually. I haven't been offered a part that truly inspires me to take time off, though.'

I met Stephen Spielberg at a breast cancer benefit and he explained that he’d seen me on Saturday Night Live and thought I was ready for a movie. He said, ‘You go to the ledge and are unafraid to jump off.’ That was the biggest compliment to me because he was saying I was free.'

When can we expect you to make your feature film debut?
I have been getting a ton of scripts over time. I have turned down quite a few roles waiting for the 'right one.' It's another aspect of my life and career I want to dedicate serious time and attention to and will, when I am ready. I don't want to just make a movie to 'do one' and say I did. Music, being my first love, takes priority and now is my time to focus on just that. It will happen when the time is right, and is something to look forward to in the future.
Describe the perfect movie role?
I am drawn to roles with great substance. I am not interested in playing 'myself' in a movie, or a role too similar to my life and music career. I want to challenge myself in this field, as I do in my music.
I am a big fan of people like Charlize Theron for the daring and drastic roles she takes on. I respect that. I also love Angelina Jolie's ability to really make you FEEL something (i.e. 'Girl Interrupted'), and Glenn Close's incredible performance in 'Dangerous Liaisons.' I only hope to be as bold, brave, and believable when I make my venture into the acting world.
