Christina Statistics - She Said - Family & Friends
'I'm the oldest of five, including stepbrothers. I have a 3-year-old half brother, Michael James, and he's the most adorable. My sister Rachel is 13. My stepsister Stephanie is 13, and a 16-year-old stepbrother named Casey, and he takes pleasure in rubbing it in my face that he has a driver's license and just bought a car. But I'm happy for him. Being the oldest can be hard, because my little sister gets away with so much more than I did. My mom says cut her some slack, and I think, 'why didn't you cut me some slack?' But I like being the leader.'
'Rachel, my younger sister, said to me that she admired me and that I was her role model. I was really moved.'
'She (Rachel) has such a great voice that it wouldn't surprise me if she became a big singer too. She is so beautiful, I'm sure she would succeed if she wants it. I'd love that to happen for her.'
'Yeah. I see my sister at every chance I get. I love her to death. I want to get her a car, since she just turned 16 and that's what you do. My little brother - he's my everything. He's six. My parents are like, 'Little Mikey can dance so well' and all he can go around saying is, 'Let's put on a show, let's put on a show.' How cute is that?'
'It's so cool that they're here, although the noise isn't helping my head! It was a great night but I'm paying for it now.'
'I always envied people who had best friends they've known since they were little, because I've never had that, I'd have to keep picking up and moving.'
'My father was good at receiving the album (Stripped). He realised it was my way of healing. I’m 24 now. I was six at the time it happened and he accepted it was what I needed to do. I’m pretty much out of his life and that’s something he’s had to learn to live with.'
'In LA now I have a few friends, mainly people I work with. My best friends are my sister, very cute, a musician too, and Marcy from back home - I’m godmother to her children.'
'Oh, like I couldn't win, like, I'd be hanging out at the movies and these so-called friends would ask me to sing, you know testing me. If I did what they asked, then I was a showoff. If I didn't, then I was being stuck-up. Of course, they weren't my real friends, but it took me awhile to learn that. I had to learn the hard way.'
'It's definitely a dream come true to be recognized and to be able to sign autographs. But, it's also a lot of hard work and can be draining. If you don't know already, you will quickly learn who your real friends are.'
'Yeah. I have a couple of really good friends from back in Pittsburgh. My friend Marcie back home, she got married - she's my age and she had a baby! One day I want do that whole thing, too. I actually can't wait; I think I do have a very mothering, nurturing instinct, but I'm very focused on my career right now.'
'I pray and look within myself. I consider myself a very strong person. A lot of times you get pulled in different directions - it comes about selling records and looking perfect. That's when I have to turn to myself and realise why I got into this in the first place and that's because I love doing it. Plus I have a really strong down-to-earth family base. If I'm ever out of check at all, they'll make sure I get checked.'
'All I can say is there's no place like home, it felt so good to sleep in my own bed.'
'I put up walls although I’m learning how to open up. It takes time to warm up to people and a while to truly confide.'
'I've never been happier, like with the people in my life. It's happening little by little, to the point where I'm able to feel peace. It doesn't feel like such a battle. It feels okay now.'
