Aguilera Cancels Summer Tour
Christina Aguilera's official site released a statement on April 29, 2004 announcing Christina Aguilera forced to cancel her North American tour due to strained vocal chords. Doctors advised Aguilera to immediately rest and give her voice time to fully recover. The 28-city tour with opening act Chingy was scheduled to kick-off May 13th in Seattle. "I am extremely disappointed to have to cancel this tour. I was looking forward to being on the road again and spending time with my fans," stated Aguilera. Refunds can be made at the point of purchase. FansRule, Christina Aguilera's fanclub management have now said that they do not intend to give back refunds, due to bankrupcy. Aguilera's management has said that they are working hard for all fans to recieve their full refunds. Christina Aguilera has hinted her tour was axed because she didn't have any new material to sing- after initially claiming she pulled out to rest her voice on doctors' orders. Aguilera admits the prospect of her scheduled summer Stripped dates failed to inspire her, preferring instead to write fresh songs to sing after becoming bored with her repetitive setlist. She says, "I cancelled because it wasn't the right time. I didn't want to do it badly - and the whole thing was basically going to be a rehash of my Stripped show. So I'll wait until I've found some new material and have a better show for fans to enjoy."
