New Image But Still Beautiful [Express & Star]

The new-look glamorous Christina Aguilera in action on stage delighting crowds

Don’t worry, she may have glammed herself up all 40s style but Christina Aguilera is still dirrty enough to make Jordan blush.

Gone is the in-your-face overt sexuality and in its place is something much more subtle, with glamour replacing tartiness.

She’s definitely got one of the best voices in the business - much better than Britney and Justin - and going back to basics is an inspired decision.

Power shopper Cristiano Ronaldo showed up to the Christina Aguilera concert in Manchester proudly displaying his favorite manbag, and teammates Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney weren't far behind.

Rooney, no stranger to lucrative deals, recently became the highest-paid player in British football history after signing a contract that will earn him £35million in salary over six years along with numerous endorsement deals. That should pay for a lot of Christina CDs.

And if Ronaldo's not earning £££ for the manbag endorsement, he should be.

Review: Newcastle Concert [Evening Chronicle]

WE WAITED three years for pop diva Christina Aguilera to fulfil her promise of playing Newcastle after cancelling a gig here at the last minute on her last tour. But was it worth it?

In one word - yes. Anticipation was high for this show, not least with the fact that 18 trucks had pulled up outside the Metro Radio Arena, indicating this was going to be one of the biggest productions the venue had ever hosted.

Big it was too. But not, it has to be said, as big as Aguilera's voice, which was on top form throughout.

Gone were the leather chaps and pure sleaze of what the trademark of 2003's Stripped tour, and in its place a slightly more demure Ms Aguilera, but one who seemed to relish every minute of her performance.

The Back to Basics gig showcased much of the album of the same name, with a belting rendition of the hit single Ain't No Other Man leading the way.

There were costume changes galore as Aguilera split the show into numerous segments, the highlight being the Circus section -which forms the basis of much of the Back to Basics second CD.

X-Cert X-Tina [Mirror]

IN a tight black basque, Christina Aguilera slithers seductively around a pole. Then in lacy chaps, she lets her fingers linger provocatively over her privates. No, it's not a clip from some dodgy porn movie - this is X-tina's x-rated stage show.

Her two-hour gig at Manchester's MEN Arena on Thursday was her sauciest yet. What a Dirrty Girl!

Man Bag United At Xtina's Show [The Sun]

CHRISTINA AGUILERA’s gig in Manchester was an extremely queer night.

First, Man Utd ace CRISTIANO RONALDO arrived at the MEN Arena clutching his camp manbag.

He was closely followed by his Geordie team-mate MICHAEL CARRICK . . . bet he’d have a glow on his face if his pals back home knew he was a closet Christina fan.

The soccer entourage was led by scouser WAYNE ROONEY in a dodgy brown zip-up cardy – how did COLEEN let him out like that?

Christina Aguilera At Men Arena [Guardian]

Christina Aguilera has spent the year since getting married trading in her old sexy and raunchy image for something usually described as "demure and sophisticated". Out went the sexy lingerie and X-rated career moves which gave her the nickname X-Tina, in came flowing ball gowns and an album of 1920s influenced big ballads titled Bad To Basics. Now though, she appears to be going back to basics.

She appears on a flight of stairs in a white suit topped off by a chic trilby. Moments later a silken white number is teasingly slashed at the thigh. Clothes are gradually hurriedly removed until she is finally left in an outrageous pair of hot pants. The message seems to be that X-Tina is, in the words of her funkiest numbers here, Still Dirrty.

At least that is one thing that can be gleamed from a show that is more baffling than her bill from the laundry. It divides into three sections: "1920s" features stills of Billie Holiday alongside the 1960s star Otis Redding, while the big dance tracks suggest that Holiday was actually making big-lunged R&B in the 1990s. "Duke Joint" seems to fulfil no other purpose than allowing X-Tina to mount a piano wearing a glittering red dress.

Agui-Barer Is Back To Best [Mirror]

SHE'S been accused of toning down her act since getting married.

But last night Christina Aguilera showed she was still as Dirrty as ever.

Racing through several saucy outfits - not to mention a pair of killer stilettos - the singer was back to her cheeky best.

But she backed up the sell-out show at the MEN Arena in Manchester with substance as well as style.

And with a 23-strong track set, she can't be accused of under-changing her loyal fans. They were treated to a brilliant selection of her hits, including What a Girl Wants, Lady Marmalade and Ain't No Other Man.

Caught Live: Christina Aguilera [The Sun]

DIRRTY singer CHRISTINA AGUILERA showed she’d lost none of her raunch factor last night.

She opened her show to a standing ovation as she was unveiled standing at the top of steps in a white trouser suit with matching high heels and hat.

She started with her single Back To Basics — also the name of her tour.

Supported by a 12-piece band and eight dancers, she then threw her hat off and belted out Ain’t No Other Man.

She changed clothes about as many times as she changed songs in a show broken into three sections — 1920s, Juke Joint and Circus.

Christina Aguilera @ M.E.N. Arena [Manchester Evening News]

SHE stood astride a prone male dancer, tossing her platinum locks and shaking her booty, encased in skin-tight mini-dress. The screens behind her flashed up newspaper headlines: “From Dirrty To Demure”, “From Party Life To Housewife”.

But Christina Aguilera was bellowing her disagreement: “I still got the nasty in me. Still got that dirty degree.”

Despite being happily married, she is, so the song assured us, “Still Dirrty”. Her foxier-than-thou attitude made her the anti-Britney of pop, and she is loath to relinquish this unique selling point.

Look At Me, I'm Still A Dirty Little Pop-porn Princess [Telegraph UK]

With Britney Spears out of the picture, it looked like Christina Aguilera had won the battle of the US teen queens. So, for her latest incarnation, she's been confident enough to tone down her image and sport 1940s-inspired platinum curls and sailor shorts.

Naughty but nice: Christina Aguilera, in her latest incarnation

The album Back to Basics has not yet set the tills on fire, but kicking off a world tour, Sheffield Arena was nearly full of young ladies, steely to the sudden cold in this season's minis, plus a surprisingly large number of their boyfriends.
